Day 9 - Baby It's Cold Outside!

Well, the temperature outside this morning was 2 below zero. So, to help warm, things up, here are views of my wood stove. It's been going strong for several days. The stove pipe did bite me a couple of days when I turned around with a couple of sticks of wood in my arm and brushed up against it. Ouch! But it wasn't as bad as a minor sunburn and I put some Aloe on it immediately.

Day 8 - Day 2 of Moose A Day

Meet Mel!

Mel belongs to Mom and has a twin that lives with us. The twin's name is Mel, also. Ok, so we're a little lame and kept the same name since we would be living in two different places.

Mel rules the roost from his perch on the back of the sofa. The cat used to knock him behind the sofa, but Mel convinced the cat it would be in her best interest to leave him alone.

He would like to know which is his best side :)

A:

Or B:

He was supervising when Rich was putting the tree up last weekend. As you can see, the job remains half finished until the moose hams it up for the camera. Of course, Rich has to add his ham in there, too.

Day 7 - Moose Day 1

OK, my friend Iris posted some Christmas pictures and made me think of my and my husbands Moose collection. So, I'm going to feature a Moose of the Day until I run out of Moose (may be the end of next year LOL).

Meet Bodie J. Moose -- Named after the Patrick Swayze character, Bodhi, in Point Break.

Bodie came to our family either the Christmas before we were married, or our first Christmas. I don't remember (that happens when one gets "old") exactly, but my mom bought him for my husband (Rich). Bodie does spend Christmas with her every year.

Bodie is also our romantic moose. My goodness he just loves love. He even went to the 2008 Lori Foster Reader and Author Get Together where he got to meet lots of romance authors.

So, without further ado, here he is............. The FIRST Moose of the Day
........

Bodie J. Moose

This was taken at the end of the first second day of the get together. He was one tired moose.

Here he is getting a smooch from
Cait London
.

And another from Sara Reinke
.

Check back with us to see who the next "Moose of the Day" is.

Day 6 - Homework!

I thought this shot reminded me of an old-fashioned food vendor trailer. But, it's not.
It's an old school bus. This one was manufactured before they mandated the changes to school buses after the Carrollton bush crash on Mother's Day, 1988. The people who were in that crash were from right here. The school this bus is parked at sits directly across the street from the memorial that was set up to honor the victims.

I don't know if this bus takes kids home from school if they stay after school to work on homework, or if they actually use the bus as a place to do homework. I didn't look inside - it was hot and hubby was waiting and I had to get back to work.

Here are some more shots of the bus:

Day 5 - Catch The Reading Bug

I'm the Children's Librarian at the North Branch library. Our summer reading program was "Catch the Reading Bug". We had our end of summer picnic at Dawley Park in Radcliff. It's mostly a soccer field, but it has some really nice shade.

The picture below is of a bug on one of the slides. I was amazed I caught it because it was getting ready to fly away.

Day 4 - Light and Shade Contrast

I just loved this trellis. It's usually covered with yellow flowers of the forsythia. There is also honeysuckle and a wild rose in there. Are there birds hiding in the limbs? Is there a bunny hiding in the shadows? Is there a skink lizard sunning himself on the light side? There are so many possibilities here.

Day 3 - Too Tired to Pump Iron

Well, it seems my viewers want to see if there are more colors here than black and white. So, I scoured around and found this beautiful pair of rusty, iron barbells. They weigh 25 lbs each and I can understand why they are sitting in the shade.

Wonder who decided they didn't want to use them?
